Jermaine’s father was an Atlanta-based talent manager who assisted Dupri in gaining early exposure to the music industry and performing. His father managed a Diana Ross concert when Dupri was just ten years old, and he had the opportunity to dance on stage with Diana Ross herself.
This led to Dupri performing as a dancer in his adolescence via the Whodini group he was a member of. Among his early performances was one in one of their music videos called Freaks Come Out at Night, which he did. He subsequently went on to play at other music events throughout the nation.
