Doja Cat Early Life
Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini was born in Tarzana, Los Angeles, on October 21, 1995. Her mother is a painter. Her father, Dumisani Dlamini, is a Zulu actor, composer, and film producer. Doja Cat says she never met her father growing up. Her father denies this, claiming they have a “good” relationship.
Dlamini and her mother went to New York City shortly after Dlamini was born.
As a child, she was enrolled in ballet, tap, and jazz training by her mother in Oak Park, California. [22] In order to get into a performing arts school, her aunt gave Dlamini singing lessons. A Hindu ashram in Agoura Hills, California, was where her family lived for four years when she was 11. Alice Coltrane was the swami in this film. She believes she lost interest in education after that, preferring dance instead.
Dancing Bharatanatyam at the ashram was her favorite style. While still in high school, she fought in dance battles in Los Angeles with a professional poplocking troupe, which she joined after leaving the ashram. [16] She routinely missed school to join online chatrooms.
When Doja Cat was sixteen, she dropped out of junior high school.
